Can you share a positive example of where you’ve felt loved?

I fondly remember my childhood in a rural, coastal town in the Philippines.

I was surrounded by the love of my parents, grandparents, and friends.

A few of the moments that I recall vividly:

  • Building milk-box birdhouses with my father
  • Searching for beautiful seashells at the nearby beach with my friends on some late afternoons
  • Going to my grandfather’s pechay patch, with him spraying fertilizer on them
  • Eating lunch at the fishpond at the back of my grandparents’ house; the nanny would be feeding the fish the rice I didn’t eat
  • Running after my mother on the streets because I wanted to go with her to shop
  • Serving as a cane for my half-paralyzed grandmother on her sunset walks (my grandparents lived just across our house)
  • Helping my grandmother sell document paper and envelopes to people having their check-ups at the public clinic across the street
  • Playing fancy toys with my rich neighbor’s kids
  • Proudly wearing the bright blue pants printed with a Mickey Mouse design on the legs

Good old days.
