Why Taking Holidays is Good for You (and Everyone You Love)

It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life and work, and before we know it, months have passed without taking a break. But taking holidays is important not just for our own well-being, but also for the well-being of those around us.

So when my birthday recently came around, I made sure to spend it with the people I love — my family. We traveled to Cebu island, crashed into some waves (and vice versa), met some whale sharks, toured some ancient churches, and spent quality time with the people who matter most. It was epic.

So here are five reasons why taking holidays is good for you (and everyone you love):

It gives your mind a reset.

Taking a break from the stresses of work and daily life can do wonders for our mental health. It gives us the opportunity to relax and recharge, allowing us to come back to our responsibilities feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Even our homes need some cleaning every week, why not our minds, too?

It helps to review your personal and professional goals.

Taking time off can also give us the opportunity to reflect on our lives and think about what we want to achieve. It can be easy to get caught up in the day-to-day tasks and lose sight of our long-term goals, but taking a break can help us refocus and get back on track.

Your loved ones get your full attention.

When we’re always busy with work and other commitments, it can be hard to find time for the people we love. Taking a holiday allows us to fully devote our time and attention to our loved ones, strengthening our relationships and deepening our connections.

You get to explore and be awed by new things.

Going on holiday also gives us the opportunity to see and experience new things. Whether it’s visiting a new city, trying new foods, or simply spending time in nature, taking a break can help us broaden our horizons and appreciate the world around us.

When you get back to work, you approach it with a clearer perspective.

Finally, taking a holiday can help us come back to work with renewed energy and focus. When we’re well-rested and rejuvenated, we’re better able to tackle our responsibilities and be more productive.

In short, taking holidays is good for our physical and mental health, and it can also help us strengthen our relationships and achieve our personal and professional goals. So don’t be afraid to take some time off – you (and everyone you love) will be glad you did.
